Today we read "Hungry Floppy" by Roderick Hunt. The family goes camping, and Floppy the dog wanders off hungry. He finds and eats three slices of cake in a tent, tries different beds until one is just right, and falls asleep. The family discovers him, and in the end they kindly invite him to share their cake.
